Interdisciplinary studies? What?

This time, I went to H. Hall at 11:00 a.m. on July 27. Her name is Shawn Caldwell. She is studying Interdisciplinary Studies, and wants to be a teacher in elementary school. In my opinion, this was my favorite speaking homework with a Native American speaker because was interesting: First: I told her that my experience in my country was that work with people with different majors is hard. It is hard because you need to combine every single point of view when you are doing your tasks. Shawn explained me that in this country if you work in a school, you will have students from different cultures, countries, and contexts, and you should know how work with them. Second, Shawn told me that with Interdisciplinary Studies you will be able to learn and teach different aspects from many professions. The world is global and one example is the school, and especially in elementary, the teachers don’t teach mathematic, science, history per separate, they need to teach about the life in general. I was remembering how my teachers taught me, and was completely dissimilar. I like that teachers try to teach from numerous knowledge. Third: Shawn said that her curriculum is special because she toke classes about history, psychology, mathematics, sociology, teaching, political science, etc.  Interdisciplinary Studies’ classes are variety. I really enjoyed my conversation with Shawn, and I’m grateful for learning from her.
