Weekly Speaking Reflection
Talking about the first working day at school
On September 01 at 5:00 p.m., I went to Hunter Ridge; it is a complex in the West End. I was talking with Edward, he is a teacher in middle school in Richmond. He said that today, August 02 is the first day at the school with kids, and he is exiting for starting work this new scholar year. He thinks that the first day and week of school is easy because the students don’t know between them. After the first week, the students starting to know who are each person in the classroom, and they became crazy. He affirms that to be a teacher in middle school is hard in the United States of America for several reasons: First, because students’ parents think that their children are perfect, and teachers are guilty. Is hard for parents believe in strangers, and they demand many results from teachers, for example, they want that their children are the best in everything. Second, students in middle school are very active because they start their adolescence. They are leaving to be children and became in boys and girls, I mean, they don’t have an identity. And for that reason students are out of control. Another reason is that in this time students don’t respect teachers like twenty or more years before. Edward said that some students scream, say bad words, and sometimes fight with teachers. In school is hard to control students because some of them don’t believe in teachers and in many times ask why they should follow school’s rules. Finally, today no many people want to be teacher in middle school, and schools don’t have enough teachers. Probably this is a social effect of the American dream’s crisis. Edward said that many teachers in his school are foreigners, and his co-workers think that they are survivors at this time. Therefore is a challenge to be a teacher in schools in the United States of America. While Edward was talking about his first school day, I was remembering my first school’s day, and I felt happy because my school days were amazing.
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you meet Edward?
Though this is not a writing class, I wonder if you re-read your writing in your blogs to make sure that all sentences have a subject and verb. Do you?
I meet with Edward because he is friend of others teachers that are my friends, and I visited his house.
I read my paragrafh. I don´t know what are the grammar problems (subject-verb), but I´m going to review, and I will re-write. Thank you for your comments.
This is my new version:
